Here are a few photos of the Austral Expressions Blackstone bricks all cleaned! It is an interesting brick, sometimes it looks brown, other times black dependent of the weather
I cant wait for the Dune coloured front, verandah and garage doors to be installed. After installation, we will decide if the facade requires plantation shutters or part rendering to further break up the dark bricks.
My SS assures me the tilers have been and replaced the roof tiles. I am not so sure they replaced all of them. He is going to call Bristille and ask the question again.
Tomorrow they should commence work on the eaves. Fingers crossed the rain stays away.

In the woods....with delivered gutters and fascia
The gutters and fascia were delivered last Friday 23 September. Apparently they may start work on these as the bricks will be another week. I am thrilled with the colours we chose
Dune - Fascia (Lighter colour)

Into the woods...with upgrades
Upgrading is never ending. When do you stop? How do you stop. For us it was getting ridiculous.
We had to reassess the upgrades and ensure our overall objectives were met.
So what were our priorities?
We had to reassess the upgrades and ensure our overall objectives were met.
So what were our priorities?
- Large Alfresco so we can host our family functions.
- All brick construction
- A "wow" factor on ground floor especially bathroom, entrance, staircase and kitchen
- Finally we had to be careful not to over capitalise . We wanted to ensure that if we were forced to sell tomorrow we would get our land cost plus build cost back. For us we needed to ensure total cost did not exceed $1.25m. This is the current market price for a 4/5 bedroom family home. We purchased our land in the inner west of Sydney in 2008 for $715k and KDR is costing us about $500k
- Resale, resale, resale - we wanted to appeal to the family market and use neutral tones should we decide to sell in the near future

In the "Woods"....with External Colours
After ploughing through many home websites and magazines I had 80% certainty of the colour choices that we wanted. My appointment seemed so rushed with No Name Building Company I left feeling very unsatisfied with some of the choices made. I stewed over the choices for a month or so and ended up making some minor changes.
So, here they are:
EXTERNALS
Bricks
Austral Expressions Blackstone with off white rolled mortar - I know, I can hear you say it's a daring choice. BUT, because we live in a federation area I guess it wont look too unusual. We also thought if it looks to black we could always part render in Dune. The bricks were about a $8.5k upgrade
Roof - Bristelle Classic Shingle Coal
Fascia - Dune

Gutter -Ironstone

Garage - Dune
1st Floor Door - Dune

Front doors - Dune

Driveway - Bluestone
Plantation Shutters - white - just to break things up!
